Discover Groovy Radio on OndaCast. Curated by veteran DJ Music Mike, stream non-stop, commercial-free 60s and 70s pop, rock, and Motown hits from the golden age.
If you’ve spent any time tuning into the streams here on OndaCast, you know how much we love discovering sounds that carry genuine soul and intention. Today, we are proud to kick off our new station spotlight series by featuring a channel that our team genuinely loves having on all day: Groovy Radio (60's and 70's Oldies).
In an era of flat algorithmic playlists that shuffle songs without any heartbeat, Groovy Radio does something rare—it brings back the unmistakable pulse of classic Midwest Top 40 radio.
The Sound: Where Pop, Rock & Soul Meet
Groovy Radio isn’t just a playlist of the usual suspects on repeat; it’s an immersive, non-stop trip back to the golden era of the 1960s and 70s.
Drawing deep inspiration from the legendary sounds of the American Midwest—stations like the iconic 50,000-watt powerhouse CKLW "The Big 8"—Groovy Radio spins a vibrant, full-flavored blend. You’ll hear upbeat Motown soul, raw garage rock, infectious bubblegum pop, and timeless ballads sitting comfortably side-by-side. From The Beach Boys and The Temptations to Sweet, Looking Glass, and Creedence Clearwater Revival, every track feels like dialing in your favorite transistor radio during summer break.
Meet the Man Behind the Mic: "Music Mike"
What makes a great independent station truly special is the human being curating it. Groovy Radio is helmed by veteran broadcaster Michael Greene, known to listeners simply as Music Mike.
Mike’s love affair with the airwaves started early. As a three-year-old growing up in Northeast Ohio, he was already spinning records on a small turntable his parents bought him. By age ten, he was captivated by the big, authoritative "Boss Jocks" of classic AM radio, mimicking their delivery every afternoon.
Mike went on to build a rich career in terrestrial radio:
The College Days: Hosted morning Top 40 shifts at Ashland College before landing a nighttime slot on 50,000-watt WCLW in Mansfield, Ohio.
Award-Winning Directing: At WDIF in Marion, Ohio, Mike served as Music Director, earning a Gold Record award in 1979 for helping break Dr. Hook’s “When You're In Love With A Beautiful Woman” to #1 nationally, while the station took home Billboard's Small Market Radio Station of the Year.
Super Station Sound: In the mid-1980s, he helped engineer the launch of "Ohio's Super Station" 93.7 WQIO, bringing major-market energy, high-octane audio processing, and massive giveaways to regional listeners.
Flashback Favorites: Over the past two decades, Mike built the beloved YouTube channel Music Mike’s Flashback Favorites, sharing hundreds of rare stereo mixes, lost gems, and forgotten vinyl cuts with over 100,000 music lovers worldwide.
When Mike launched Groovy Radio, he poured decades of hands-on broadcast passion into creating a pure, commercial-free haven for listeners who miss when radio had real character.
Tune In and Show Some Love
